The Dogs of Bhutan

Everywhere you go in Bhutan, there are dogs lying about.  During the day you can find them asleep just about anywhere, including the middle of heavily traveled roads.  At night they wake up and start fighting.

Some are strays some are owned by someone.  I never saw one react aggressively to anyone, they are as mellow as can be. Some are even friendly, like the one sitting next to Rhonda. But with each other, they fight like crazy.

There are fewer (though you wouldn't really know it) because the government now has a spay/neuter program to reduce the population, which the locals assure me is working.  Religion prohibits anyone from just rounding them up and euthanizing them.
